The Torch Doha - member of Leading Hotels of the World joins the Earth Hour 2013 initiative on March 23rd by switching off its exterior lights from 8.30PM - 9.30PM. The highest building in Qatar will be saving 200 KW equivalent to 200 000 Watt by switching off a total of 3780 LED lights.

The two signature restaurants THREE SIXTY ad FLYING CARPET will be serving dinner at candle light. Torch Café located in front of the hotel will offer signature mocktails prepared at guest table at candle light.

"We are thrilled to join the Earth Hour initiative for the second time, to raise awareness to take action against climate change. Our energy saving efforts are not limited to this event and we encourage everyone to show concern for the environment" says Hotel Manager Sherif Sabry.

Other initiatives in place at the Torch encouraging sustainability and energy-saving are: relying on natural daylight in Madar meeting room, Flying Carpet and Three Sixty restaurants; reducing AC temperature in public areas during cold season; using Digital Signage in public areas, though reducing the quantity of printed material for the hotel; saving energy, water & detergent by placing information cards inside guest rooms concerning towel washing and more.

The tower LED exterior lights have been revamped last year and are currently saving 20% of the total energy used before.

Digital screens inside and outside the hotel feature the Torch participation at Earth Hour 2013 thus creating awareness for staff members and guests about sustainability and energy saving in Qatar.
